Denise Clausen at Latimer Quilt & Textile Center |
Denise does beautiful calligraphy on cloth, and her skillfully done inscriptions adorn many of the quilts in the gallery. The one at the center of the stage (top photo) was a group project with two other people, and Denise designed, lettered and stitched the center medallion, and collaborated with Phyllis Sherman and Sylvia Sullivan on the project.
She is also a fan of indigo, and whenever we see each other we end up talking about indigo.
The exhibit will be up over the next two months, so I hope you'll go check it out. Latimer Quilt & Textile Center is located at 2105 Wilson River Loop Road in Tillamook. For more information, click here.
that first quilt look so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow! Her work is very beautiful. I am heading to the coast in the next week or so, I might have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI really like the texture of the first quilt!
ReplyDeleteI think the diamond one is my favorite...but I'm a sucker for geometry. That's cool that she has a nitch for handwriting on quilts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the calligraphy on the quilts, and I especially like the wildlife themed quilt in the fourth image. Latimer is always a great place to stop on the way home from a day in Tillamook.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat first and woods/to grandma's house quilts are particularly exquisite, but all these pieces are so amazing!
