If you're in the Portland area and love quilts, come visit the
21st Annual Airing of the Quilts at the Milwaukie Center Friday and Saturday, March 20th and 21st from 9AM to 4PM.
I am the featured guest this year, and in addition to displaying nine masterpiece quilts made between 1760 and 1880, I will also give a talk on Saturday at 11AM. To celebrate Spring, I thought I would bring out some nice, old quilts for this event.
The nine quilts on display will include three wholecloth quilts; a Revolutionary War period blue resist, a blue and white wholecloth made with toile, and an all-white stuffed work wholecloth with a weeping willow tree. There will also be six appliqué quilts including the Album with Lyre, c. 1850, by Mary Couchman Small of West Virginia-- the quilt with a million stitches!
Hope to see you there. For more information about the 21st Annual Airing of the Quilts at the Milwaukie Center,
