42 Owls - What a Hoot! From an eBay Seller in Cincinnati, Ohio, 66" x 79" |
There are 42 owls in the quilt. Six columns, seven rows; and each owl is unique with its own colors and mix of fabrics, appliquéd with a fine zigzag stitch. The quilt came to me from a seller in Cincinnati, Ohio, but there was no additional information about the its origins.
The quilt is 66" x 79" and is made of cotton and cotton/synthetic blends. Blocks are approximately 10" square. I am still searching for the pattern source, but fortunately, I have many friends who were making quilts in the 1970s. We talk about 70s quilts all the time. I am truly blessed they care enough to help. Someone will find it in a book or magazine, I'm sure. Seek and you shall find.
This quilt is pure fun, and what could be bad about having a little fun? I tend to gravitate toward people who have fun with what they do. The maker of the Owls quilt is someone I certainly would enjoy.
There is so much personality in this quilt, it's really hard not so smile when you see it. Love it so much, I may add it to the group of quilts that will be displayed later this year at the Benton County Museum during Quilt County. Fun, fun, fun...and what a hoot!
That's fantastic! Lucky you!
