Here we are on the last day of the year, and after successfully conquering the challenge to blog every day in December, I have realized my last post of the month and the year is also my 1000th blog post.
So, to celebrate, I am doing a giveaway. The prize will be revealed when the winner is announced, and it will be something very nice indeed! To enter, just leave a comment and tell me what you enjoy most about Wonkyworld. A random winner will be selected and announced in my 1001st blog post tomorrow, January 1st, 2016. Thank you, readers, and Happy New Year!
I love seeing your quirky poly quilts and keeping up with your NY Beauties! Wonderful to see them get their chance to shine.:)
ReplyDeleteI love when you show the old quilts, hawaiian quilts, poly quilts. Quilts you don't see on other blogs
ReplyDeleteI've especially loved all the New York Beauty quilts as well as some of the other antique quilts you've shown. Also your posts on soaking the antique white ones awhile back. Congrats on 1000 posts - amazing!
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations on 1000 blog posts and I hope you know how inspirational they are to many current quilters. I live in New Zealand and there just aren't the wealth of antique and historical quilts here so it is especially interesting and stimulating to read your blog and view the quilts. And it always surprises me how many of them I want to reproduce. Those quilters of old sure had some wonderful design and creative skills! Thank you
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the old quilts that are "attracted" to the "quilt magnet". Even though I could do without those polyester ones. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat I enjoy the most are the pictures of the old quilts in your collection. I'm inspired by their colors and intriguing construction. Thanks & Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteDon't make me chose which I like seeing the most. It would be like chosing your favourite child....
ReplyDeleteI have loved getting a glimpse into Bill's World! Oh & also, your quilt choices were what took me to Nantes last year to meet you! Hope 2016 is as much fun for you this last year has been.
ReplyDeleteGlimpses of your ever growing collection is a real joy. It's very diverse and sometimes quite surprising. Thanks so much for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like the most is the fact you are doing what you do. I think it takes a special person to stay with making a collection. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat I like most is.....I never know what to expect!! Thanks for all the surprises!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!
I actually dream of making a New York beauty. I actually made one block, lol. So while I dream I look at the ones you post about. Happy 2016
ReplyDeleteYour love of textile collection! You are saving these precious quilts.
ReplyDeleteLulu and quilts. What's not to like?
ReplyDeleteI like seeing quilting through your eyes. I am also passionate about quilting. While I am part of active quilt community,it is fun to see someone else who loves quilt history and why quilts matter.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the fact you have branched out into more recent neglected types of quilts. You've opened our eyes to the artistry in them.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat to see your collections and read your posts. Your eye for a treasure is a gift!
ReplyDeleteYour creativity abounds and is quit inspiring! Love seeing the 'wonky' things you create
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the photos of the quilts in exhibitions and shows because I'm not likely to ever get to those in person. The New York Beauties are inspirational; you may have planted a future challenge in my mind. Thanks very much.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilts that show us variety- fabrics aren't matched, seams don't align, non-cotton fabric choices, and general wonkiness. It has allowed me to relax in my quilting.
ReplyDeleteI've been an avid reader of your blog since finding it, gosh, has it been three or four years now? I've learned so much and my all time favorite quilt was shown in Oct 2013....the fabulous polyester rick rack quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love the people you attract. Your readers are interested in fresh perspectives on a beloved tradition.
ReplyDeleteHow fun. I love seeing all the quilts you've collected and have missed posts on your kitty cat!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you admire all quilt styles and are on a mission to save the quilts that people are discarding. I've also loved the NY beauties and search yours to decide how I want to quilt the one I'm making. I've extended the stars that sash the twisted NY Beauty blocks into the border and it needs some super duper quilting in that border.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all those quilts, New York Beautys are my favourites!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 1000 posts!
I'm a new follower-I'm intrigued (exclamation point not working)
ReplyDeletelove your photos of quilts...I aspire to take photos like that!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 1000 posts! I will admit that I started following your blog because of your black cat, but I continue to be inspired by your awesome antique quilts! I have to thank you for helping me embrace my 70s aesthetic and for all the stories about your quilts and their providence. Looking forward to more of your posts in 2016!

ReplyDelete1000?!?! holy moly! well, i love that you share all sorts of quilts made by real people for real purposes: warts and all. gorgeous stuff. thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
ReplyDeleteLulu! As one black cat to another...
ReplyDeleteOf course, the human in me loves to see all the quilts and get a fresh perspective on them.
I love the way you embrace the different types and makes of quilts. My Granny made poly quilts cause that's what she had after making pants and t's for the grand kids. We loved the quilts and used the hell out of them for years and years.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about your blog is..... when you write you have something to say... many blogs are often just words... you have taken a grand journey these last few years and it has been great watching you develop new ideas and talents and to see the way you tie all things together.... 2016 should be a great year for blogs as well!!!! Happy New Year !
ReplyDeleteI added your blog to my FEEDLY earlier this year it is so enjoyable to see a post pop up .... I enjoy your investigation of the old quilts especially the polyester ones.... I bought one of those when I was driving home from El Paso Texas after my tour of duty completed... It got me thru many a cold winter in Michigan. ... It finally feel apart in the 80s... I was not a quilter then so I did not know how to fix it. Now I would know how to repair it good as new..... TO THE NEXT 1000 posts.... NONNIE

ReplyDeleteLike others, I find "most" a difficult limit. Let's just say I enjoy seeing old quilts and hearing what history is available. And new quilts. And design comments.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is always wonderful, and I am likely to learn something every time. Thanks for sharing, and wishing you a wonderful 2016!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1000th post from me. What I enjoy when I visit is the variety in posts. Its not just another "I made a quilt" post, which is basically all I write! Your recent post on the journey is writing books made me think about how I have failed to follow through on thoughts on converting my digital photos to books, before they all get lost in the ether. Still haven't quite got there yet though. Have a Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1000th post! That's a lot of sharing. I love the quilts.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing I like most... you are such an inspiration on many fronts. I will make your NY Beauty pattern; I will self-publish my genealogy books; I will make quilts that are not traditional blocks; and on and on. It is an honor to know you. Congratulations on your 1000th post!

ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1,000 posts - What an achievement!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at all the old quilts. So many of the old quilts are becoming the starting point for modern quilts.

ReplyDeleteWow, 1000 posts? Amazing accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my most favorite things about your blog are you sharing your experience of collecting and respecting double knit quilts, and the wallpaper of you blog--love those upcycled jeans quilts
