Giving Tuesday - Giveaway!

It's "Giving Tuesday" and I'm ready. Yesterday, I announced the release of the catalogue for my upcoming exhibition, "Kalakoa, Discovering the Hawaiian Scrap Quilt" -- and today, I'm giving away a copy. Just leave a comment, one comment per person please. Tomorrow I will announce the winner.

This catalogue and exhibition reveal an undocumented tradition of quilts, which look nothing like the quilts most people recognize as Hawaiian. There is no applique or echo quilting involved, but the connection with Hawaiian history and industry is clearly evident. The 40-page, full-color catalogue is available in softcover. 10. How exciting! I can't wait to see your book! I think it's so important to document the lesser-known quilting traditions that don't fit our preconceived ideas of what quilts are or what quilts represent a region. So-called traditions are always changing and very dynamic, and it appears that these quilts fit that idea.

  35. I told my husband to take a look at this book preview and think about giving it to me for Christmas. Why, you might ask? This is because my sweet cousin who now lives so far away in Hawaii sent me, for my birthday, a large package of Hawiian charm squares. All colors. All prints.
