To Sisters!!

Almost time to hit the road and head over to Sisters for the 37th Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. This is my third year attending the show, and each year has been memorable. The first year I went was the 35th anniversary, and I was part of the Oregon Quilt Project booth. We fried in the sun and were totally drained by the end of the day, but during the day I met Andrea Balosky. That was worth the whole trip!

"Small Wonders" quilts by Andrea Balosky on display last year
Last year, I was doing a lecture on old quilts and a class on eBay, and in between activities there was a display of Andrea Balosky's "Small Wonders" quilts at the coffee shop connected to Bedouin. It was nice to have these quilts on display, as it was also the first year the quilt show had a "Small Wonders" challenge of its own.

The weather should be great again, as it was last year
This year I'm bringing Mom along, and it will be my first time participating as an artist with quilts hanging in the show. If you've followed my blog, you probably know all about it. But in case you missed it, I'll have one quilt in the "Small Wonders Challenge" and another in the ManLand exhibit. It's the first year for ManLand- an exhibit of quilts made by men. Hopefully it will become a fixture in the show. I thought it would be fun to surprise Mom by having quilts in the show, and as far as I know she hasn't found out yet.

There are many beautiful sights to see. The whole town of Sisters will be covered with quilts, and not to be overshadowed by the jaw-dropping display in town, the natural scenery is also spectacular. If you're in Oregon and have no plans for the weekend, drive on out - the event is free! If you're somewhere else, plan on coming next year. It's definitely worth the trip!

  3. Went to the picnic, spur-of-the-moment last night. Heard Andrea Balosky would be there with her friend, Caroline. Ran into Jean Wells before we got into the park, then found Andrea and Caroline and sat with them. Met Gwen Marston afterwards, saw Lori D., and several other friends. Mom got to meet all these amazing people, and she's not even a quilter! (yet)

You must come - Sisters is an amazing experience!!

    1. Great to see you, too. My pictures of the "House of Wonky" quilt were overexposed - did you happen to get any?

Your Dear Jane quilt was killer! Mom and I are SO impressed. I have pictures of that in case you don't.
