Who bought my quilt?

"House of Wonky" 2012 - SOLD!
While I was busy planning a surprise for Mom at the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, I got a surprise of my own. My quilt, "House of Wonky" sold! It was funny how I found out about it. Mom and I were walking toward the picnic on Friday evening, and there was Jean Wells Keenan walking toward us, all by herself. I introduced her to Mom, and we had a brief visit.

During our conversation, Jean mentioned my quilt was one of the first ones to sell. She didn't know I'd been keeping it a secret, and I didn't let on, but quickly changed the subject. As it turned out, Mom didn't catch it. Phew!! But for the rest of the evening I couldn't help but wonder if I'd heard Jean correctly. I didn't want to ask questions about it when Mom was there, so I waited until Saturday to check and see if there was a sold sticker on it.

We got all he way to the east end of town before I realized the "Small Wonders" quilts were all the way back beyond the Stitchin' Post, and when we finally got to the exhibit, Mom thought the only surprise I had in store for her was the one quilt in the ManLand exhibit. There was a crowd around the Small Wonders quilts and I pointed at mine and told Mom I made the quilt and it had won the Viewer's Choice Award.

What a cute ribbon! Do I get to keep that??
Needless to say, she was very surprised. There was a nice blue ribbon hanging on it, and a crowd gathered around. I spoke with a couple people who overheard me telling Mom about the quilt, and was even teased by one person about "standing around just to hear what people said" about the quilt. LOL! I had to peek under the tag to see that yes, in fact, it had sold. What a great surprise. Mom said she would've bought it, and I was kinda prepared to buy it back, myself. I really never thought someone would buy it, especially since the price went up to $200 when it got an award.

So, now it's a burning mystery. Who bought my quilt? I'm very eager to find out, so if you're reading this and either bought the quilt or know who did, please let me know. I'll keep it on the down-low if you prefer. E-mail me at: williamvolckening@comcast.net - :)

In case you're keeping score, it's one of my first quilts, first show exhibiting quilts I made, first award for a quilt I've made, and first sale of a quilt I made. OMG! I think I'm even more surprised than Mom was.

    1. I guess I was being silly for thinking the person who bought it would get the ribbon with the quilt. Such a noob I am!

    1. Thank you, Kristin. I need work when it comes to sewing, but can put colors together fairly well. It's the art school training. :)

    1. Thank you! I really was worried that nobody would buy it, though. Making quilts is new to me, and if you look closely, the quilt isn't perfect. It's different, I'll give you that, but far from perfect. :)
