This wonderful hand-painted Bicentennial quilt is coming soon from an eBay seller in Kentucky. The maker, also the seller, created the top using Artex paints in 1976. It was hidden away in a suitcase under the bed for 40 years, and she decided to finish it. The quilt is 66" x 94" and hand quilted. Wow!!
Looks like a fun quilt.... but I am sure the fact that you can talk to the maker will be the highlight for you... My oldest was born 1976 and yesterday I was at her house and saw the rug my mom hooked that year in honor of the bicentennial. Mom gave it to her "a few" years later.
ReplyDeleteI have an unquilted painted quilt top that my mother-in-law pieced together 20 years ago. I would love to have it quilted but don't know if it can be washed or not. It was a painted quilt kit. Should it be washed first? The painted squares are a bit stiff because of the paint. They were that way as soon as they dried when she painted the squares. Can it be washed?
