coming soon: hand-painted Bicentennial quilt

This wonderful hand-painted Bicentennial quilt is coming soon from an eBay seller in Kentucky. The maker, also the seller, created the top using Artex paints in 1976. It was hidden away in a suitcase under the bed for 40 years, and she decided to finish it. The quilt is 66" x 94" and hand quilted. Wow!!

  1. Looks like a fun quilt.... but I am sure the fact that you can talk to the maker will be the highlight for you... My oldest was born 1976 and yesterday I was at her house and saw the rug my mom hooked that year in honor of the bicentennial. Mom gave it to her "a few" years later.

  2. I have an unquilted painted quilt top that my mother-in-law pieced together 20 years ago. I would love to have it quilted but don't know if it can be washed or not. It was a painted quilt kit. Should it be washed first? The painted squares are a bit stiff because of the paint. They were that way as soon as they dried when she painted the squares. Can it be washed?
