One of the other attendees, Georgia Chiarella, who is also an AQSG member, called a few days later to let me know Chris was looking for a new home for her quilt. Chris and I saw each other shortly afterwards at the Quilt Adventure in Bellingham. To make a long story short, I made her an offer, she said yes, we worked out the details, and the quilt arrived yesterday.
The white points really stand out on the dark blue, sparkly fabric. And the inclusion of the Twin Towers triggered memories of being at the top of the World Trade Center dining at Windows on the World, and being airborne in an American Airlines jet during the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Not your ordinary quilt!
Just goes to show that you can't have too many New York Beauties..... not your ordinary quilt sums it up perfectly. I am happy that it has joined your crew.
ReplyDeleteMy first glance at the quilt was WOW a great use of that city fabric....not really looking at the fabric just knowing that "somewhere" in my collection I have some city fabric..... this internet business let's me see sooooo much of the world ...thanks again for sharing your part of the world.
I want to say you have lucked out again. But I don't know that its luck, its your determination and love for these quilts, etc? Just amazing that your paths crossed and you were able to get this. An amazing quilt. Not just the factor of all those points, but how the Chris got all the tower fabric in the right spot, standing up right, in the corner! Perfect! Had I tried that pattern with that fabric, I would have used yards just trying to get the block straight and oriented. Chris is a very talented quilter. You, my friend are very fortunate. Would love to know how big this quilt is?

The narrow red bands between the blocks are brilliant...they add so much to the design. Great quilt
