Five Things About Me

photo by Michael Grecco, from Men's Health Best Life Magazine shoot
Pat Sloan posted a "Five Things About Me" blog today, and I enjoyed hers so much. I thought I'd do one, too. In descending order, but not really ranked:

5) I've swum 10 kilometers in the ocean in 57 degree water without a wetsuit. I don't swim anymore.

4) Our interim college counselor said I wouldn't get in to Rhode Island School of Design. It was the only school I applied to. After I was accepted, I wore my purple RISD T-shirt almost every day until graduation. It was a small school. Everybody saw me wearing the shirt.

3) I can usually recreate foods I've enjoyed while dining out. I realized it around 1993, when I recreated Mastoris linguine with chicken, mushrooms, Kalamata olives, green onions, tossed in a white wine sauce. I still make the dish every now and then.

2) I've met William Wegman and several of his Weimaraners. Mom goes to church with his sister, Pam, in Rangeley, Maine.

1) I've always liked SPAM, especially since I found out they like it in Hawaii. But I haven't had it in years.
