another great gift

This week I received another wonderful gift out of the blue- a fun and funky reversible crib quilt. It came from Toni Mitt in Wisconsin, and was originally donated to a rummage sale, but was not sold. Lucky me! Toni saw that I liked quilts made in the second half of the 20th century, and offered to send it to me as a gift.


There is a nice mix of fabrics, mostly 50s and 60s, possibly some 70s, too. The quilt is improvisationally pieced and oddly shaped, two things I really love. It is about 40" x 50" and has a few condition issues, but was obviously used and loved. It reminds me very much of the improvisational quilts made in the south. Thank you, Toni, for such a great gift!

front and back, or is that back and front?

    This is one of those quilts- I want one right now and if I can't have one, I want to make one today :)
    It found a good home and in perfect hands!

      It looks like she kept adding until it became long enough to fold it in half. Is that true about the front and back?

      Could be, but I do not even know who made it, so it would be hard to say. Glad you enjoyed it!
