Each year, I have a short, concentrated quilt buying season, which usually lasts from September through early to mid November. It's probably no coincidence that I find more great quilts when I've got a little extra spending money, but I still feel these months are very strong for fresh-to-the-market quilts. Things are starting to slow down a bit, but several new acquisitions have rolled in over the last few weeks. Some of these quilts will be available for sale when I launch my new web site, Willy Wonky Quilts. Others are going to be part my collection. Here are some of my favorites.

ReplyDeleteSame thing happened the last three years. Good crop of quilts hitting the market in the fall.
ReplyDeleteThis year, the 70s quilts have been a revelation. I have more than 30 of them now. These quilts will be displayed in Portland in 2013, as part of a museum exhibit with about 40 quilts. I'll post info when it's available.
Buying season...more like a quilt harvest!

ReplyDeleteThe flag quilt is such an important part of the narrative that's developing in the group of 1970s quilts. It's really quite remarkable to acquire such an important piece at such a bargain price.
